60hz,120hz or 240hz refresh rate.Does it really matters?

REFRESH RATE

Before starting the main topic let's talk about the Refresh Rate first. So basically, The refresh rate refers to the to the number of frames a television/monitor can display per second. It's generally measured in Hertz, which is a unit of frequency. A Monitor or Tv with a 60Hz refresh rate can display 60 images per second, same goes with 120hz and 240hz respectively. Now lets get back to the main topic.

60hz/120hz/240hz

60hz vs 120hz vs 240hz

So A 60 fps (frames per second) video or game played on a 120Hz TV/Monitor will look no different than on a 60Hz TV/Monitor. In a scenarios like this, the TV/Monitor either adjusts itself to match the refresh rate of the source, which effectively turns it into a 60Hz TV/Monitor, or it simply doubles every frame. If your TV/Monitor is connected to a PC which supports a 120Hz input, then at this time having a 120Hz TV/Monitor can be a strong advantage. Now if you have a 60hz Monitor
and you got Nvidia Gtx 1060 or 1070 or even higher, then there is no use of 60hz monitor because these graphics will produce more than 60fps basically in every games (2018-19). A 60hz monitor can not render more than 60fps i.e because [ 1FPS = 1HZ]. So basically you are just wasting the true output of these cards if you are using 60hz screens. I have already talked about Vsync and G sync in previous blog, these tech can help in stuttering and tearing in games or videos.V sync is mainly helpful when you are getting more fps than your monitors refresh rate, it locks the fps to screens rate.( i.e 60fps to 60hz or 120fps to 120hz) .But if your frame dips below 60fps with vsync on 60hz screen then there will be screen stutter, which is solved with new tech G sync.G sync is mainly helpful when your frames are dipping below 60fps(on 60hz or120hz), with G sync on your screen will not stutter and it will provide smooth gameplay ( i,e because G Sync syncs your monitors refresh rate directly to graphic cards optimum output). For more info about Vsync and Gsync check my previous blog. But after that also fact remains same, you cant enjoy the true power of gtx 1070 or 1080 with 60hz screens.

CONCLUSION

So my ending thoughts about this post are, For most people, a TV/Monitor with a 120hz refresh rate doesn't serve a purpose. There is no difference when compared to a 60Hz model if they are both playing standard content. If you are into PC gaming though, a TV/Monitor that supports a 1080p at 120Hz input is very beneficial, since video games can actually be played at that faster refresh rate. A 120Hz monitor or TV displaying 120 fps content will have much smoother and clearer motion. These higher hz screens mostly effective when you are playing fps (first person shooter) or MOBA (multiplayer online battler arena) games. It will boost your gaming performance as compared to 60hz with 60fps. So if you are a Gamer and have a budget for these screens then 100% i will recommend these screens.

Hope you guys have loved it and stay tuned for my next post, see you later...
